10 Essential Things in Architecture...for students :)

At dahil pasukan na naman ngayong araw na 'to, I decided to make a list ng mga kinailangan ko way back then noong nag-aaral pa ako. Sana may mga arki students na makabasa para may heads up na sila sa pinasok nilang industry.

10. ENERGY DRINK

Say hello to eyebags students, dahil malapit na kayong magkita. Mararanasan nyo na rin ang di matulog ng 3 to 4 days straight. At dahil puyatan ang laban, you will need to stay awake. Cobra works for me. Bahala na kayong pumili ng kung saan kayo hiyang ('wag naman kayong uminom ng iba-iba at baka naman mabangag kayo LOL)



09. DRAWING TABLE

And because you will spend most of your time designing, kailangan nyo ng sturdy drawing table na pwedeng i-tilt. I got mine from National Bookstore for Php2500. But that was back then, ewan ko lang ngayon....



08. DESK LAMP

Actually tandem na rin sila ng number 09. Habang nagdo-drawing kayo, you will need to find the perfect angle for the light. But if you are having a hard time finding it...taaaaddddaaaahhh! Desk Lamp ang solusyon dyan :)



07. COLORING MATERIALS

Best Qualities are:
- Faber Castell for Color Pencils
- Sakura for Water Color
- Mungyo for Pastel
- Kure for Markers
Period.



06. T-SQUARE

You will need this big time! Pag nakakita kayo ng mga students na may dala-dala nito, 2 lang yan: either Engineering or Architecture students sila. Maniwala kayo, gamit na gamit niyo to sa course na 'to. If you need long straight line, T-square is the tool for you.



05. TRIANGLES

A Triangle can provide you a straight line, but most important of all, angles baby! Yup, angles. Merong 2 klase: 30x60 at 45X45 triangles. In order to achieve the perfect angle, kailangan straight surface ang pinagpapatungan ng triangle nyo, to achieve this, you will need the help of number 06.



04. SPECIALTY PAPERS

Tracing, Canson, Stratmore, Bristol, Master Board, etc. Ang isa pang labanan sa course na 'to ay ang pagandahan ng presentation. At para dyan I present to you the Specialty Papers. I'm not saying this just to impress your classmates with an expensive paper. You see, a certain paper = a certain coloring material. In example, Stratmore for Watercolor. Don't worry, mae-encounter nyo rin yan as years go by.



03. TECHPENS

Short for Technical Pens. You will need this para luminaw ang mga drawing nyo. Marami siyang mga needle thickness: 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 so on and so fort. Staedtler is the best for me. Di ko namang sinasabing pangit ang Rotring, siguro mas sanay lang ako sa Staedtler. Pero lately I've been using Felt Tip Pens he he he.



02. PENCILS

Mechanical or yung tipong Mongol. But I prefer the latter. Kasi 'pag wood pencil ang gamit mo, dun mo masusubukan ang skills mo to control your line thickness or line weight. Lalo na pag pinagamit ka na ng F or HB.



And to top them all......



01. MONEY

Yup! In order to buy all the 9 things above, you will need lots and lots of money. After all, Architecture is an expensive course :)


All the brands I mentioned are based on my experience. You are entitled to your own opinions naman, siguro kanya kanya rin yan, kung saan kayo sanay o masasanay :)

I did not include a PC in the list. You will need CAD naman mga bandang 3rd year na. Tsaka 'pag may Computer Application subject na kayo :)
