Tsampective

BTW, as my post title says, Tsampective. "Ano ito" siguro ang ask nyo.

The first time I heard this term was from my College Prof. Akala ko nagkamali lang ako ng dinig. Later on he explained it naman.

Konting trivia muna mga beki. In Architecture, or kahit sa Interior Design, we spend most of our time drawing. Mapa-exterior or inertior man 'yan. Kumabaga pambulaga talaga. Yung manual ha, at hindi yung 3D courtesy of AutoCAD or Revit :)

AB for Arki Beki. Notice the Left Vanishing Point & Right Vanishing Point.

Above is a sample (sample lang mga teh, baka may mag-violent reaction d'yan ha) of a "matinong" perspective.

Balik tayo sa Tsampective. Tsampective pala mga teh, based on my prof is Tsambang Perspective. Tsamba by means of distorted na yung drawing mo.

This is Tsampective. Distorted kasi walang mga Vanishing Points.

I remember this term dahil sa mga classmate ko back in College days. Si V at M.

V is working in Makati, I think arki firm. I asked him why didn't he take the LEA (Licensure Examination for Architects). He answered: "Kumikita naman ako...." When I heard this, my brain did a cartwheel.

But in the case of M, it's worse. Graduate siya ng Architecture. Kumbaga may degree. Pero sa'n siya ngayon? Isa siyang Call Center Agent sa Makati. Sabi ko, Tsampective again with a lot of distortions. I have nothing against Call Center Agents, but in the case of M, sayang yung 5 taon....nalihis kumbaga.

The latest I heard from V, he is planning to take the LEA I think this January 2012. Kumbaga may Vanishing Point na.

Si M you asked? Sad to say Tsampective pa rin....

-"Russell, are you gay, straight or bi?"
-"I don't want to answer that..."
-"Why naman?"
-"When someone questions your sexuality, that is when prejudice starts..."

Tumatak na sa isip ko ang sinabi na ito ni Russell Villafuerte, a finalist in a TV show called Project Runway Philippines. He said this when the host asked him (a fan question to be exact) his sexuality. Oo nga naman, you are a guy in a contest na ang majority ay mga beki din.

I admit, I watched the show, and by the way Russell talks and moves, meron akong naconclude (pero sa akin na lang yun he he). Pero who am I to judge Russell? First of all, it's none of my business, as long as wala siyang taong nasasaktan, go lang nang go! Next, it's his choice. Eh ano bang magagawa natin, dun siya maligaya eh, again: go lang nang go!

It's the same here in this Architecture business. Many people will question your sexuality. It could be your classmate, professor, officemate, or even your boss.

Sa experience ko, it started in school. Isang makabuluhang smile. Para 'di na lumaki yung usapan.

Nagtuloy-tuloy 'yan hanggang sa work ko. Yung isang officemate ko hindi ko alam if she's tripping o seryoso talaga. Crush niya raw ako. She even asked me kung talagang beki ako, kasi sayang daw kasi sa exterior otokong otoko raw ako. Pero once I open my mouth at nagsalita na, yun na! Doon na raw talaga ako halata.

Pero ito ang worst experience ko. I was presenting a plan to one of our clients, together with my immediate superior. So habang nag-eexplain ako, syempre may kulot yung boses ko here, there and everywhere. Typical beki kumbaga. Ano'ng ginawa ng boss ko? He ridiculed me in front of our client.

People will judge you because of your sexuality, not because of your talent/skill. Kaya ang advice ko sa inyong beki rin in arki industry, go lang nang go! Ang importante, wala kayong nasasagasaan habang gumogora kayo :)

Why Architecture?

Maraming sagot d'yan:

1. "The Beauty Queen" answer - A pleasant day to you and to the judges. Thank you for that wonderful question. I studied Architecture so that I can contribute to the construction business that I believe is the key for the development of our country. (pak!)

3. "Gahaman" answer - I heard po kasi na mataas ang sweldo ng Arkitekto....he he he

I'm sure marami pang mga answers d'yan.

Fast Forward. First day ng klase, pagkatapos ng mahaba-habang introduction of the class and the professor, nag-dialogue si sir ng: "Sigurado akong kaya ito ang kinuha n'yong course dahil may talent kayo sa pagdo-drowing." I was shocked! Sapul na sapul ako. Pero to my surprise, intro palang pala yun.

There were also times na nag-eenjoy ako. I got to show my talent. Bragging rights kumbaga.

Architecture is Arki Torture. To the sense na pahihirapan ka talaga. Nakaidlip lang ako 'pag day of submission na. Yung eksena n dala dala mo yung presentation materials mo sa jeep, yung kamay mo nakahawak sa handle bars, samantalang yung isa nakahawak sa 30X40 n board.

Multiply that to (5 college years + 2 years working experience), you do the Math kung gaano katagal na pahirap yun. But that's the point of Architecture - to challenge yourself and how far can you go with that challenge. Luckily for me, I survived those years, and now I'm facing the real world of Architecture, with my fellow Architects and other professionals.

Architecture is Arki Torture. The only difference here is that there is a reward after all that tormenting. I can finally call myself....

Architect. :)

Start of Something New....

March 25, 2011

I will remember this date.

This is the date ng kauna-unahan kong post. Pero mostly mystery series (Hardy Boys, B1 Gang to name a few...).

Ngunit, subalit, datapwat I will focus on the architecture side (kwento ko sa susunod kong post kung bakit he he he...) na may halong personal life stories ko na rin.

Inggit dahil they can express their thoughts and feelings....

Kaya from now on, ika nga ni "A" sa Pretty Little Liars.... "I'm here to stay bitches ;p"
